The Giallorossi have fallen off the boil recently with two Champions League defeats to Bayern Munich and a 2-0 loss at Napoli, leaving them three points off Serie A leaders Juventus. Does he still maintain Roma will win the title?

“When I talk, my words are never empty,” replied Garcia in a Press conference. “I have faith in my squad, we can do great things. We are building a team with a precise identity and one or two games won’t change my beliefs. We must think positive and are fired up.

“My players are eager to get back out there. The Champions League chapter is closed for the moment with us in second place, now we are ready to battle Juventus in Serie A. We are only three points behind and in good shape.

“We must not change mentality, so continue putting the same enthusiasm and joy into the game. Our fans give us positive signs and they are the ultimate judges. They sang throughout the Bayern match, which was wonderful.”

Garcia was criticised after losing 7-1 to Bayern Munich for taking too open an approach, then on Wednesday seemed excessively defensive in a 2-0 defeat.

“I am not annoyed by criticism. We changed our attitude in one game because that’s what was needed. We could’ve done better controlling the ball, but other than that we did everything we had to in Munich.

“From tomorrow we have to focus more on turning chances into goals. With absences we have to adapt, so the midfielders need to be more daring when going forward. The midfield is the heart of this Roma’s football.

“We know that we are judged on results, but we did not get anything wrong and have convictions about our football that will not change.”

Garcia confirmed Kevin Strootman will be on the bench against Torino tomorrow, his first appearance eight months after snapping the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
