In the aftermath of the announcement, the 50-year-old took to Twitter to voice his pleasure at having been given the chance to continue working in the Italian capital.
“I am honoured to now be even more closely tied to one of the most ambitious projects in Europe,” Garcia wrote on his official account.
“I am happy for us to continue to write Roma’s history together.”
