Serie B outfit Bari have lost their appeal to have a deducted point restored to their tally ahead of their final match of the season tonight.

The Apulia side have overcome financial turmoil, a total of four deducted points and the long-term future of the club being place into doubt this season to enter tonight’s decisive matchday still in with a chance of reaching the play-offs.

However, the Federal Court of Justice has today turned down an appeal by the Biancorossi to reclaim one of their lost points.

The deduction was handed out by the League’s governing bodies after the club were found to have missed the deadline for certain outstanding payments.

It could prove to be a decisive decision. Had Bari been given the point back, they would have needed only to win tonight against Novara to guarantee an end-of-season shot at promotion to Serie A.

As it is, they remain on 60 points and in addition to winning tonight they must also hope that at least one of Siena, Spezia and Crotone slip up.
