“Doumbia had a long journey before coming here, as he went from Africa to Moscow in order to complete some paperwork, but we know the kind of player he is,” said the Coach in a Press conference.

“The statistics prove it, this is a hitman, someone who puts the ball in the net. This is what we expect from him, without pressure of course.

“He only had one training session with us. For now his job will be to settle into the group and get his teeth into some passes. He is ready now, there is no problem, though we’ll work more after the Parma game.”

Francesco Totti and Douglas Maicon are injured with Jose Holebas suspended.

The Giallorossi finally ended their streak of four consecutive stalemates by beating Cagliari 2-1, so momentum is now crucial.

“We have no other choice but three points against Parma. We can say that even in their current predicament, the Ducali never give in. They only lost to Juventus in the Coppa Italia at the last minute. That means we must use all our concentration to prove that gap in the table between us.”

Many suggested Roma’s crisis at the start of 2015 was down to Gervinho’s absence at the African Cup of Nations, where he lifted the trophy with the Ivory Coast.

“Nobody is indispensable, as every player serves the collective,” insisted Garcia. “We can play better, certainly, but need to be more solid in defence and attack.

“Every game is fundamental, whether it’s in a League or a knockout tie. I expect my players to give their all in every match, starting from Parma. I don’t want to hear any talk about the Europa League or other fixtures.

“What are Roma’s objectives for the campaign? It would be banal to say win every match. Therefore I’ll say to win the next game. No distractions.”
