Marseille Coach Rudi Garcia calls Mario Balotelli “one of the best Italian players”, amid links to Nice striker.

The Italian international is out of contract on June 30, and it’s expected he’ll leave Les Aiglons on a free transfer.

“Listen, there are two things I won’t talk about: the transfer market and Roma,” Garcia cautioned in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.

“What I will tell you is that I’ve followed him closely and he’s one of the best Italian players. He’s done very well in France, he’s never had any behavioural problems and he’s appreciated by his teammates.

“If Marseille want to improve, we have to sign strong players.”

Garcia was also asked about the Italian national team, and whether Roberto Mancini can turn the Azzurri around.

“Of course, he’s good, experienced and ready to work with the many talented youngsters you have.

“It’s not easy though if you lose people like that Juve bloc, starting with [Gigi] Buffon. By the way, you’ll see that he’ll do very well at Paris Saint-Germain, they’ve made a great signing.

“Gigi, as well as being a formidable goalkeeper, is a great man. In fact I’ll make an exception for him, I hope he returns to the national team.”
