The Giallorossi are ravaged by injuries, have Francesco Totti in doubt due to flu symptoms and fell seven points behind leaders Juventus.

This week they were also knocked out of the Coppa Italia quarter-finals by Fiorentina in a 2-0 home defeat.

“The vicious circle of injuries is when players are missing, the same ones have to always keep going and then they get injured too, often on international duty,” said Garcia in a Press conference.

“It happened with De Rossi and Keita. We must find a way to ensure that when everyone is back, they don’t have more problems.

“We wanted to go forward in the Coppa Italia, but were unable to do it. We look forward, as there is Sunday’s game and the Europa League.

“We are working on the long-term plan here, as Roma’s season does not end with the next game. It would be good to win in order to interrupt the negative streak, though. You cannot compare this side with last season because we didn’t have European commitments then.

“We want the players to understand that this is a moment of difficulty, we have few options available and therefore they all have to give something more.”

Garcia reiterated he is all-in with Roma and wants to build a future at the club.

“I came to Roma in order to win trophies. Roma is not a launch pad for me, it is the point of arrival. I want players to feel confident and take risks, so when they look in the mirror they think that they are strong players, Roma players.”

Tomorrow they travel to Sardinia against Gianfranco Zola’s Cagliari, who have been revived since sacking Zdenek Zeman.

“They have been doing well under Zola and it’ll be a pleasure to meet him, as I admired him as a player. It will depend on us and not our opponents. I expect Roma to play at the maximum of their potential right now.

“If that is the case, then Roma will be competitive and we’ll have a better chance of winning.”
