The Giallorossi would’ve leapfrogged back over arch rivals Lazio into second place with a win, but were pegged back by relegation-threatened Atalanta on home turf.

“I am angry,” said the Coach on Sky Sport Italia after the 1-1 result.

“I saw a Roma that did not play well. After Francesco Totti’s penalty, we fell asleep. There was a bit more in the second half, but it was our worst first half of the season.

“I did not see the necessary grit and determination to take back second place. Tomorrow I need to have words with the squad.

“Not much worked well today, as we all played badly. I didn’t like the referee either, so it was a game to be forgotten all round.”

Roma had been seemingly on the up in recent weeks, but this setback saw fans jeer loudly at the final whistle.

“We are lacking something in attack and I cannot explain their attitude. It’s true we had many absentees and therefore didn’t have enough quality.

“Now we must look forward to the remaining seven rounds. We were unable to beat a side fighting against relegation, so next we have to focus on Inter.

“Am I disappointed? No, I am angry. It’s different.”
