The 29-year-old saw his Italy World Cup dream shattered last night after he suffered a broken tibia during the Azzurri’s friendly draw with Republic of Ireland.
Speaking to Sky Sport this afternoon, the 69-year-old expressed his sympathy for the player and wished him a speedy recovery.
“It’s an injury we didn’t need, we’re sorry for the player,” Galliani said. “We hope he can recover as soon as possible.
“I’ve had the chance to speak to Riccardo by text message. All of the club, starting with the President Berlusconi, will be close to him.”
