Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani is quietly confident ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League preliminary tie against PSV Eindhoven.

The Diavolo flew out to Holland today for the first leg of an encounter which the Italian giants are desperate to qualify from.

“I remember when we went to PSV and signed Ruud Gullit,” the Rossonero official noted. “They are a noble side who have had players such as Ronaldo and Romario in their ranks.

“It is one of the most important play-off games, but let us not overload it. These games are vital every year, but it is not the most important in our history.

“We played well on our American tour,” Galliani added. “I think the side is in good shape, but I don’t want to make any predictions…”

Milan haven’t been overly active in the transfer market so far, but the former Lega Calcio chief is satisfied with his work.

“The transfers which we wanted to take place have happened. This is an ultra-competitive side, with good players.”

Milan are also trying to sign CSKA Moscow’s Keisuke Honda and were yesterday linked with Paris Saint-Germain defender Mamadou Sakho.

“There is no news on Honda and Sakho hasn’t been offered to us,” Galliani replied.
