Adriano Galliani claims Milan “have to play like this against Barcelona” after using an atypical 4-3-3 formation.

There were no centre-forwards in the starting XI, as Robinho, Kaka and Valter Birsa lined up for tonight’s 1-1 Champions League draw.

“We have done our best work against the big clubs with a centre-forward and someone behind him,” said Vice-President Galliani.

“When we saw 10 men behind the ball, we realised this was the right way you have to play when facing Barcelona.

“I like this Milan, where the 4-3-3 still means everyone working very hard for the team. Perhaps against Barcelona everyone concentrates that bit more than in other matches. We know it shouldn’t be like that, but players inevitably raise their game in these situations.”

Robinho could’ve won it in the second half, but hit a fresh-air shot when sent clear by Sulley Muntari.

“It was an extraordinary chance to take the lead and I won’t sleep tonight, as I keep wondering whether he missed the ball or had left it because he thought Kaka was behind him.

“The goal we conceded was exactly like the one we let in against Juventus” data-scaytid=”18″>Juventus, with a mistake passing our way out from defence.”

Galliani was asked about agent Mino Raiola’s comments before the game that Mario Balotelli could move on if the media pressure continues.

“Raiola is sneaky…. He likes to move and shake things up. He’s a great agent and you have to be careful with him.”
