“Genoa’s only shot on target was a penalty and if Mario Balotelli had converted his spot-kick, we would’ve won the game,” insisted Galliani on Milan Channel.

The result wasn’t the only bad news for Milan, as Philippe Mexes pulled out in the warm-up with a left eye problem and Sulley Muntari limped off, ruling both out of the Champions League against Celtic on Tuesday.

“Milan have 115 years of history and a 116th will begin too. Bad years happen to everyone, let’s not make a drama out of it. Look at the Champions League trophies we won and the Finals we played. Even more recently, in the last three seasons we came first, second and third.
“We must raise our heads up and be proud of this Milan.”
