Guglielmo Vicario is continuing to impress at Empoli and his strong work between the posts has reportedly seen him attract the attention of Turkish giants Galatasaray.

The 26-year-old Italian goalkeeper was approached by a number of Serie A clubs in the summer transfer window, including Napoli, Lazio and Fiorentina, but ultimately remained with Empoli after a lack of convincing offers. Vicario has carried over his impressive form this season and has been one of the bright spots in the Tuscan squad.

As reported by Calciomercato.it, Galatasaray are looking for a long-term replacement for the aging Fernando Muslera and have set their sights on Vicario, keen to add the talented Italian to their squad.

It’s still unclear if the 26-year-old would accept the move to Turkey or continue waiting for a top Italian club to pick him up.

Vicario is a consistent and talented shot stopper, something the statistics underline; last season, he had a post-shot expected goals minus goals allowed of +3.5, a strong sign of his ability to keep out goals.
