Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini is reportedly very close to Wolfsburg, who are ahead of Southampton for his signature.

The forward joined the Partenopei from Sampdoria in January of 2015, but was forced to play backup to Gonzalo Higuain.

When the Argentinian left to join Juventus and his replacement, Arkadiusz Milik, ruptured his cruciate ligament, it was hoped that Gabbiadini could step in.

However, the Italian international has managed just three goals this season, and is expected to move on with Leonardo Pavoletti coming in and Milik returning.

According to Corriere dello Sport, both Wolfsburg and Southampton are keen to sign the 25-year-old, but the German side are firmly in pole position.

It’s thought Die Wolfe are offering €16m plus €2m in bonuses for Gabbiadini, which is just short of Napoli’s €20m asking price.

Therefore, it’s expected that the two clubs will be able to come to an agreement in the coming days, allowing the forward to move to the Bundesliga.
