Alessio Romagnoli has reportedly agreed to join Lazio on a free transfer, choosing his boyhood club over the incredibly interested Fulham.

The 27-year-old Italian centre back left Milan on a free transfer at the start of this month, ending a seven-year association with the Rossoneri. A move to the Biancocelesti seemed likely until Fulham suddenly emerged, ready to pay him €4m net per season in an attempt to convince him of the move.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Romagnoli has decided to sign a five-year contract with Lazio, returning to his native city after more than seven years away. He will earn around €3m net per Eason plus add-ons, with bonuses linked to the Scudetto and European qualification.

Only the final details need to be agreed now before a deal is fully finalised. His pre-transfer medicals are expected to be scheduled at some point in the coming days.

  1. Simply “Romagnoli” would be enough. He’s an Italian player and everyone knows him. What’s with the “Fulham target”? This is not a site about the EPL teams. What’s next? “Huddersfield’s target Chiesa returns for preseason with Juventus“?

  2. @THE MASTER They say it like that because he is linked with Fulham which has proposed to him a contract worth more than 4 millions per year and he is about to sign with grande Lazio with far less money.

  3. You guys fail to realize that by inserting keywords like “Fulham target”, it hopefully opens up a new demographic of Football Italia readers – EPL fans, especially Fulham in this case. They do the same to say, “ex-Chelsea player” Lukaku, or “Spurs target Bremer” etc.

This is why FI has been trying to link as much as EPL related title to their site, of course it’s mildly inconvenient or perhaps strange to us, the loyal followers of Calcio like the majority of us here, but to a site who’s trying to expand their brand, this is necessary.
