Marko Pjaca scored in the opening minute for Torino, but they were eventually beaten 2-1 by AZ Alkmaar.

The Granata had the perfect start in the Netherlands, with Wilfried Singo winning back possession and putting a long ball to send Pjaca sprinting clear.

It didn’t last long, as AZ fought back immediately with several chances before Jesper Karlsson beat Etrit Berisha from the edge of the box.

Karol Linetty went close, as Simone Verdi and Antonio Sanabria forced saves, but the hosts won it in the final minutes with a well-worked passing move finished by Vangelis Pavlidis.
