Roma owner Dan Friedkin said he was ‘happy’ to have brought Jose Mourinho to the Giallorossi. ‘He’s a great coach’.

The American tycoon commented the Portuguese tactician’s arrival for the first time during the ECA Assembly.

Friedkin was present at the ECA Assembly and reportedly continued to dribble the microphones, but away from the cameras, Il Corriere dello Sport reports the Gialloross patron commented on the arrival of Mourinho.

The former Inter coach returned to Serie A ahead of 2021-22, 11 years after having guided Inter to a historic Treble, and Friedkin was ‘happy’ to have secured his services.

“He’s a very good person and a great coach,” Friedkin said, according to the newspaper. “I’m happy to have him at Roma.”

Mourinho replaced his compatriot Paulo Fonseca at the helm and Roma have started the new season well.

Roma are currently third in Serie A after a 3-1 win over Fiorentina and a 4-0 win over newly promoted Salernitana.

The Giallorossi qualified for the group stages of the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League too, with two wins over Trabzonspor in the play-offs.
