Inter have no regrets over the sale of Romelu Lukaku, while Chelsea fans are fuming after another disappointing display from the Belgium international.

Lukaku has only scored eight goals in 22 appearances with the Blues since completing a €115m move from Inter last summer.

The 28-year-old had netted 64 goals in 95 appearances with the Nerazzurri under Antonio Conte.

Club director Beppe Marotta was asked his thoughts on Lukaku’s struggles yesterday but refused to go into details on the striker’s poor form at Stamford Bridge.

“I think the club has more appeal because it won the Scudetto and Supercoppa, reached the Europa League Final and showed it is a place that generates very intense emotions,” he told DAZN.

“That is a good calling card for players in Italy and abroad, who are very eager to come here.

“This helps us to raise the level of the squad, which is already very high.”

Inter picked up a 0-0 draw against Atalanta last night but have the most prolific attack in Serie A with 51 goals in 21 appearances.

Lukaku’s replacement Edin Dzeko, who joined Inter from Roma on a free transfer, has netted 11 goals in 27 appearances, one fewer than the Nerazzurri best scorer Lautaro Martinez who has found the net 12 times in 26 matches.

Chelsea fans seem to have lost their patience with Lukaku after another disappointing performance against Manchester City on Saturday.

Many are once again using the hashtag #Lukakuout, which was used for the first time in December when the striker told Sky Sport Italia that he hoped to return to Inter one day, apologising for the way he left in the summer.

Lukaku’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in 2026, but Conte’s Tottenham have been linked with securing his services in the summer.

Former Conte teammate Fabrizio Ravanelli said at the beginning of the month that the Spurs coach would do everything to reunite with the Belgium international.
