Former Inter and Tottenham defender Paolo Tramezzani is convinced Antonio Conte will leave Spurs but believes the Italian tactician would prioritise a return to Inter over Juventus.

Conte’s contract in North London expires at the end of the season and it seems unlikely that the former midfielder will extend his stay at the club by signing a new deal.

Tramezzani, a former defender for Inter and Tottenham, believes the Italian tactician will return to Italy in the summer.

“It all depends on results. Antonio has said many times that the team is not competitive enough to make it to the top four and I’ve noticed his discontent,” Tramezzani told Calciomercato.com.

“I believe his spell at Tottenham will end I think he wants to return to Italy. He has said that his health problems lately haven’t helped him stay away from his family. I see Antonio returning to Italy and if the two options are Inter or Juventus, I believe he’d return to Inter rather than Juve.”

Tramezzani, 52, played 101 Serie A games and 133 in Serie B during his career as a footballer, spending two seasons at Tottenham between 1998 and 2000.

He was the coach of Sion at the start of the season, when the Swiss side signed Mario Balotelli on the deadline day last summer, but was sacked at the end of November.

Conte has won four Serie A titles as a coach, three for Juventus and one for Inter.

  1. Conte would have won the scudetto lost by Inzaghi, but why would he return now with weaker squad and no Pintus?

    Unlikely.
