The Portuguese tactician held a press conference ahead of tomorrow's Serie A clash against Atalanta.

On Tuesday, the Giallorossi released a statement against the so-called Super League.

"Like most coaches, I'm totally against it [the Super League]," Fonseca said in his press conference.

"I must say that at this moment I am very proud to be part of football, which has shown that the fans are those who keep this sport going.

"We have shown that players, footballers and fans are important. I am proud of this stance of all and Roma," he added.

"I am not worried about football's future, we can always improve, but even during tough times, we've always proved this sport can survive."

Roma sit seventh in the Serie A table but have qualified for the Europa League semifinals.

"Until March, we were always in the top four, but we lost some important players afterwards.

"Now we have the Europa League while everyone else has the week off. I made several changes, and this happened. We want to be strong again in Serie A, and tomorrow we want to play a good game," Fonseca said.

"Roma and Atalanta are different realities. We have to admire what Atalanta are doing. I think it's too early to draw up a balance about the season. We'll do that at the end of the campaign.

"Roma are motivated, the Serie A is not over, we must focus on the Atalanta game, knowing that we haven't played as we should of late, but we haven't lost our identity.

"Mkhitaryan and Veretout are not fully fit, but their recovery is going well. They are not fully fit, but it's important to let them play and I think they are improving every day," the coach concluded.
