Fiorentina are said to be targeting Empoli and Italy Under-20 international talent Tommaso Baldanzi after selling Gaetano Castrovilli to Bournemouth.

Castrovilli was down to the final year of his contract at the Stadio Franchi and could not agree terms on a new deal, so the decision was made to send him to the Premier League and negotiations with Bournemouth developed rapidly.

An agreement was struck for circa €12m plus add-ons, while the player doubled his salary to €3m per season.

According to Sportitalia, Fiorentina are now looking to Empoli for his replacement in the form of Baldanzi.

The 20-year-old was one of the best performers for Italy when reaching the Final of the Under-20 World Cup and already has his first cap at Under-21 level too.

A product of the Empoli youth academy, Baldanzi has also been linked with Milan and Napoli.

He scored four goals in 26 Serie A games last season.

Fiorentina already did business with Empoli this summer, signing Fabiano Parisi for €10m plus €1m in add-ons.
