Fiorentina have reportedly turned down an opening bid worth €6m from Nottingham Forest for their captain Cristiano Biraghi.

The proposal was made by the Premier League club, who are back in the top flight after decades in the wilderness.

However, Biraghi is eager to remain with the Viola, where he also gets to wear the captain’s armband.

According to Firenzeviola.it, the starting bid was set at €6m and quickly rejected by Fiorentina.

Biraghi himself is also not terribly convinced by the idea of joining the Premier League minnows and is attempting to resist any progress in negotiations.

His contract with the Viola runs to June 2024 and he has been at the Stadio Franchi since 2018, going for a brief loan spell in the Inter jersey in 2019-20.

Primarily a left-back, Biraghi can also play in a more advanced role down the left.

He turns 30 next month and was a product of the Inter youth academy.
