Vincenzo Montella will still be sitting on the Fiorentina bench next season, says sporting director Daniele Prade.

“The project was born with him and it will continue with him,” the official said of the tactician who joined the Viola from Catania last summer.

“He is part of every decision which is taken at this club. We owe him a lot and he owes us a lot in return.”

Montella, 38, is recognised as one of Italy’s brightest coaching prospects following his quick rise in the game.

In 2011, he spent four months on the Roma bench after the decision to dismiss Claudio Ranieri was taken.

At the end of that campaign, he moved to Catania where he did enough in one season to become a wanted man.

After a return to Roma collapsed, the former Italian international striker signed a two-year deal at the Stadio Franchi last June.

Montella has been linked with possible moves to Milan and Napoli this season.
