Reports last week suggested the FIGC had already been in touch with Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri and Japan’s Alberto Zaccheroni.
However, Federation President Giancarlo Abete has told Radio RAI on Monday that he doesn’t even know if Prandelli will leave after World Cup 2014.
“We have not begun any discussions with any other tacticians,” Abete noted. “After World Cup qualification is secured, we will sit down with Prandelli and discuss the future.
“There will be great transparency from us because we are not a club side.
“Prandelli could still be an option. I’ll talk with him to try and understand what his intentions are. We are very attached to him as he is to us.
“The book is still open, the situation has not been defined yet.”
Prandelli, who replaced Marcello Lippi after World Cup 2010, is expected to announce his desire to return to club management for the 2014-15 campaign.
