Ciro Ferrara expects a trio of Inter-owned youngsters to become key members of Gigi Di Biagio’s new Italian Under-21 side.

The Azzurrini are starting a new chapter against Belgium this evening after the last era came to an end in the Final of the European Under-21 Championship – a loss to Spain – in the summer.

“Goalkeeper Francesco Bardi [on loan at Livorno] will be important,” Ferrara, who bossed the U-21 side between 2010 and 2012, told TMW.

“Then there is [Crotone] midfielder Lorenzo Crisetig who I think has great qualities. He will be a player to keep an eye on.

“There is also [Verona striker] Samuele Longo who started in the U-21s with me. There will be other players unearthed too, but Gigi has a good base to work with.”
