Inter President Massimo Moratti has compared new Coach Walter Mazzarri to former midfielder Paul Ince.

The tactician was brought in over the summer to replace Andrea Stramaccioni, and the Nerazzurri chief has hailed his man’s work ethic, likening it to the ex-England international’s.

Asked by Inter Channel if Mazzarri has already won over the fans, Moratti exclaimed: “And so he should have – he works as hard as any player out on the pitch and he's got talent to boot.

“In that sense he reminds me of Paul Ince. It doesn't matter how long you stay, and Ince was only here for a year and a half, there are certain individuals who stick in your mind as great Interisti because they're great people.

“The same goes for Mazzarri. He's a hard worker who knows exactly what he's doing and how to deal with the players and everyone else at the club.”

He then commented on the transfer policy over the summer, which saw the San Siro side bring in a host of younger players.

“Yes and of course that was precisely our aim. Players who, though young, are already clearly talented and with the potential to grow even further.

“And I think we got it right. But when you decide to adopt a policy like that you also need a Coach who agrees with it, and, more importantly, knows how to make the most out of it.

“For any team that wants to win things it's crucial to have a solid defence. That's something I learnt as a boy when I watched the Inter of old and it's always been the way.

“Whenever Inter have won the Scudetto, the team has always been built on a defence that worked well together. And our defence is starting to work well again now.”
