Italy won their third game of the Euro 2013 qualifying campaign with a convincing 2-0 result, seeing off group leaders Turkey.

“The lads were fantastic, although the tension got to us at the end,” said Coach Ferrara on Rai Sport.

“We had to beat a Turkey side that already had 12 points. We started off tense, then the opening goal broke the ice.

“The Turks are very strong and put you under pressure, so my defence had to battle against some important players.

“I'm satisfied with everyone's performance, starting from goalkeeper Carlo Pinsoglio, who passed a fitness test this morning. Clearly if he continues to not play at club level, then that is a problem, as it is for Luca Caldirola and Luca Marrone.”

The match was marred by a late second booking for Insigne, following on from Fabio Borini's red card against Liechtenstein.

“We are losing an important player for the next game and it's not the first time. It was a silly incident and we've got to be smarter, because the game was coming to an end and we were 2-0 up. It was so avoidable.”
