Fernando said it is “a dream to play for Sampdoria” after completing his transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Brazilian midfielder made the move for around €8m and spoke to fans at the team presentation on Friday night.
“I am very happy to be playing for Sampdoria, a club with a great history in Italian football,” said Fernando.
“I hope to repay this faith placed in me with my performances on the field.”
The Blucerchiati will take part in the Europa League preliminary round.
