Roma defender Federico Fazio has urged his teammates to “play every game like a Final” and described the draw with Milan as “a turning point”.

The Giallorossi sit sixth in Serie A, just a point adrift of Milan who are currently fourth and on track to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Having picked up a point against them last weekend, Fazio hopes they can use that result to their advantage and ensure it sparks an improved run of form.

“The match against Milan is a turning point,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We produced a great performance. It’s a shame we drew with a direct rival but with 16 games to go, we have to face every game as if they were Finals.”

Roma also face Porto as the Champions League resumes next week and while the 31-year-old insisted advancing was important, he suggested qualifying for the competition next season was the priority.

“We know the importance of playing in the Champions League. Going through would be nice but we have to earn qualification for next year,” he added.

“That’s been our objective since the start of the season. Playing in the Champions League is beautiful, we would like to do it again next year.”

Meanwhile, Roma youngster Nicolo Zaniolo has impressed so far this season and Fazio lauded his teammate for the impact he had made.

“He’s very strong. He always trains well, he’s a quiet lad. I think he will have a great career in the future,” he concluded.
