Former Milan CEO Marco Fassone has claimed Juventus have the upper hand on Napoli due to their ownership and infrastructure, claiming the Partenopei must build their own sports centre to compete in the long run.
Fassone spoke to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli and discussed the different leadership styles between the Azzurri patron Aurelio De Laurentiis and Bianconeri chief Andrea Agnelli.
“Juventus have the longest-running owner of our League,” Fassone told Radio Kiss Kiss. “They have an owner that will invest massively when he must do so.

“Juventus have the longest-running owner of our League,” Fassone told Radio Kiss Kiss. “They have an owner that will invest massively when he must do so.
“On many aspects, [Napoli President Aurelio] De Laurentiis is quite close. There’s however an aspect where Juventus invested at the cost of getting into debt, which is really important. The Neapolitan patron is not at all there.
“They have two different visions. One is imperial and rather gets into debt and the other is balanced, from which it could escape that unique win, like David who beats Goliath.”
Napoli are looking to bounce back from a poor season and since Gennaro Gattuso took over at the San Paolo, but Fassone thinks De Laurentiis must upgrade the sports centre to further develop as a club.
“There are two aspects. One is the value of the club and the other is the value of football.
“On the first, to increase the value of Napoli, the infrastructure will be important. In fact, almost nothing on the sporting level is owned.
“It should enter into the perspective of those great clubs that, despite being constantly in the Champions League, competing. You can lose €50m to €60m and then recover them the following year.
“But the President won’t do that. I think in his entire history, he has only had two unsuccessful budgets.”
Fassone admitted he has not been overly impressed by Antonio Conte’s Inter this season.
“If I expected something more from Conte’s Inter? I think the suggestion was to see Antonio Conte return to Italy and win immediately,” he added. “Now, we have a more normalised idea.
“I would call it a year of transition, as is right and normal. Perhaps the performances that Conte had in his previous jobs, especially that of London."
