Former Bologna, Milan and Torino coach Sinisa Mihajlovic could return to management in Scotland with Glasgow Rangers.

According to Goal.com, the Serbian is the primary candidate to step in after Rangers took advantage of the break for the 2022 World Cup to sack Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Mihajlovic was dismissed by Bologna on September 6, after 131 games at the helm of the Stadio Dall’Ara side.

During two different spells with Bologna, Mihajlovic had to spend weeks in hospital for leukaemia treatment and continued giving team talks and watching training sessions via video link.

Despite this determination and commitment, Mihajlovic was still fired by Bologna after two and a half years on the bench.

He has now recovered from leukaemia and is given the all-clear to resume work, so moving to Glasgow would not be too much of an issue on that score.

The 53-year-old spent much of his playing and coaching career in Italy, representing Bologna, Catania, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Milan, Torino and Bologna again.

There was also just over a year with the Serbia national team and a very brief Sporting Lisbon encounter that was over before the season had even begun.
