Sven-Goran Erkisson is “very happy for Simone Inzaghi and Lazio” after matching his record of nine straight Serie A wins. “Why not the Scudetto?”

The Aquile fought back to beat Brescia 2-1 on Sunday, marking their ninth league win on the bounce, something only previously achieved at this club by Eriksson in 1998-99.

“I know that Lazio could set a new record of 10 next week against Napoli and that makes me very happy,” Eriksson told lalaziosiamonoi.it.

“I am happy for Inzaghi and for this club, as they are having a memorable season. They are up there with the top teams, Juventus and Inter. It’s wonderful.

“Considering the way they are playing, this Lazio is capable of winning the Scudetto. They are only three points off the top, so why not?

“I think this is a very positive situation for Serie A, as at least this year Juve aren’t already 10 points clear of everyone else. It makes everything more interesting and Lazio are up there.”
