Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen sent a message to say he’s fine and thanked ‘for the sweet and amazing messages from all around the world’.

Denmark midfielder Eriksen collapsed mid-game in the Euro 2020 opener against Finland on Saturday.

The TV images showed the medical staff giving the midfielder CPR on the pitch before he was carried off and transferred to hospital.

The Danish FA have since confirmed his conditions are stable, but the former Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax star is still being examined at the hospital.

Eriksen, who arrived at Inter in January 2020, initially struggled to settle at the Nerazzurri, but he was given a more prominent role at the end of 2020-21 under coach Antonio Conte.

The 29-year-old was in good shape ahead of the European Championship and was set to play a starring role for the Danish national side in Group B.

But the playmaker collapsed in the 1-0 defeat to Finland and the Danish national team doctor confirmed he suffered cardiac arrest in the final minutes of the first half.

Eriksen contaced to Inter and Denmark teammates from the hospital bed and now he has sent another message to thank for the support.

“Hello everyone,” he wrote. “Big thanks for your sweet and amazing greetings and messages from all around the world. It means a lot to me and my family.

“I’m fine – under the circumstances. I still have to go through some examinations at the hospital, but I feel OK.

“Now, I will cheer on the boys on the Denmark team in the next matches. Play for all of Denmark. Best, Christian.”
