Italy CT Roberto Mancini expects a ‘very tough match’ against Switzerland and confirmed Marco Verratti is back in training with the Azzurri squad.

Mancini is not expected to make any unnecessary changes to the team that beat Turkey 3-0 in the opening game on Friday.

But he will be without injured Paris Saint-Germain full-back Alessandro Florenzi, who was replaced by Giovanni Di Lorenzo in the first match.

Mancini wants to secure a place in the knockout stages as soon as possible, but said the match against the Swiss will provide another big challenge for the Azzurri.

“The match against Switzerland will be a difficult game, they are an excellent team with many players who knows how to play,” Mancini said at a press conference.

“Their coach is experienced, we expect a very tough match.”

Domenico Berardi and Marco Verratti trained with the group yesterday, but Florenzi carried out a personalised programme.

The full-back seems set to miss the second game of the European Championship and Mancini admitted he doesn’t know if Rafael Toloi or Di Lorenzo will start.

“The only doubt, I think, is between Toloi and Di Lorenzo,” the CT added. “One is more of a push, the other would guarantee us greater coverage.”

Italy are waiting for Verratti’s return, as the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder suffered an injury towards the end of the Ligue 1 campaign.

“Verratti has been training with the group for three to four days. Let’s see, there are still two training sessions left and there’s still time to understand a few things.”
