Christian Eriksen is due to arrive in Milan on Monday morning to undergo his Inter medical after a deal worth €20m was struck with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Danish international midfielder turns 28 next month and is the latest addition to Antonio Conte’s squad in the January transfer window after Ashley Young and Victor Moses.

He will fly in from London this morning, then undergo his medical at the Humanitas clinic in Milan the same day.

Eriksen can then sign the contract to June 2024, which is believed to be worth €8m net per season plus bonuses.

Inter had agreed personal terms with the player some time ago, but Spurs proved tough negotiators, refusing to budge from their initial €20m asking price.

The Nerazzurri had hoped to negotiate that down, especially considering Eriksen will be a free agent on June 30.

However, their desperation to sign him now proved decisive and they agreed to pay €20m including various bonuses to get the deal over the line.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Tottenham will also receive the gate from a friendly match against Inter and get the San Siro giants to contribute the solidarity payment to his formation clubs, Odense and Ajax, which should be around €1m.

Inter hope to recoup the money from this transfer by selling Matias Vecino for €20m and he is in advanced negotiations with Everton.
