The Serbian tactician has been battling leukaemia since July and had three courses of chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant.
A statement was released by Bologna this morning, from the Sant’Orsola hospital in the city.

A statement was released by Bologna this morning, from the Sant’Orsola hospital in the city.
“Mr Mihajlovic has been admitted this morning at the Seragnoli Institute of Haematology to undergo antiviral treatment, which can be necessary, as in this case, after a bone marrow transplant from a donor.
“The medical staff believe the length of this hospital stay should be shorter than previous spells.”
Mihajlovic had spent the first half of Saturday’s match with SPAL in the stands, as it was raining heavily, but as soon as the weather eased, he joined his staff on the touchline.
Chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants weaken the immune system, which is why Mihajlovic has been careful to limit physical contact, not shaking hands with other coaches before games.
