The Coach hinted this week he could quit the club after receiving a great deal of criticism from fans and media, especially if he fails to qualify for Europe.

After tonight’s 2-2 draw with Catania, he was shown footage of Francesco Totti’s interview expressing hope the Coach would stay.

“These words do not need more commentary,” was the reply. “This is not the time to talk about my future.

“I am happy to be here in Italy, both in football and personal terms. I’m happy to have this opportunity. It has been a difficult year, but I am ready to work in order to change things and give some happiness to the fans and players.

“It’s true this game could be the snapshot of our season. I compliment Vincenzo Montella and his team for the way they played. Both teams created many scoring opportunities and tried to make the most of our characteristics.

“We struggled on set plays, but when going on the counter we had some good chances. Catania defended well and were dangerous on the break, so I think they are one of the teams who played the best football at the Olimpico.”

However, the 2-2 draw was a blow, as it means Roma might not qualify for Europe at all.

“Now we have to see what the others do and hope to still be in the race after tomorrow’s games.”
