Former Chelsea coach Glenn Hoddle is eager to see Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in the Premier League: ‘Serie A isn’t the strongest league at the moment.’

The Nigeria international scored a goal, his second in the Champions League this season, in the first leg of the Round of 16 against Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday night.

BT Sport pundits Eniola Aluko, a former Juventus and Chelsea Women striker, Glenn Hoddle and Owen Hargreaves discussed his performance this season and his potential transfer to the Premier League.

“He’s got that pace to go behind defenders, he’s also good at holding up the ball. He’s got everything at the moment,” said Hoddle.

“He’s a top, top player. If he continues and he’s injury-free, I’d be lovely to have it in the Premier League.”

Which English club could he join next season?

“Chelsea,” whispered Aluko smiling.

“I think he’ll be in the Premier League as soon as he can get here, really,” continued Hoddle.

“The only thing is, how many goals would Haaland score in Serie A? Serie A isn’t the strongest league at the moment.

“I think he’s a brilliant player, he’s got everything and he’s probably going to come to the Premier League and do it here. We’ve just got to worry we’re not getting carried away here. He hasn’t blown the world up at Lille and other places. He’s having this beautiful moment that players have, but we’ve got to be talking about him in 5 years time.”
