Giovanni Martusciello says Empoli are fighting a battle with themselves after the shock 2-1 win over Milan.

The Azzurri maintained their five-point cushion over Crotone by registering a vital and unexpected triumph at San Siro, meaning they have taken seven points from their last three games.

"I was hoping for the win. At the end of the game there was a lot of time lost, we are a team who runs a lot," a delighted Martusciello told reporters.

"At the end, we were also suffering physically and the mental pressure was remarkable.
