Sevilla Coach Unai Emery says Italian football is improving, as his side prepare to face Fiorentina in the Europa League.

There are two Serie A sides in the semi-finals of the competition, as well as Juventus in the Champions League.

“There are excellent Italian sides who are making major strides in European competition,” Emery said in his pre-match Press conference.

“Italian football is finding its space after some difficult years. Fiorentina have had an excellent season to date, and have knocked out three formidable opponents in this competition.

“Sevilla and Fiorentina are very similar in terms of history and honours. The Viola are a team which always wants to win.

“They always try to impose their style on the game, and we have the utmost respect for [Vincenzo] Montella’s team.

“It’ll be a good match. All of the Viola players are of a very high level, some of them were even targets for us.

“I worked with Joaquin for many years at Valencia, and he’s a fearsome player.

“We’ve just faced Real [Madrid] and players like [Cristiano] Ronaldo, and tomorrow we’ll have to deal with [Mohamed] Salah, [Mario] Gomez and Borja Valero.

“It will still be a very difficult job for the defence.”

Having won the competition three times in the past nine years, Emery’s men are seen by many as favourites for the tie, but the Coach says it’s too close to call.

“We can’t say at this point who is more competitive at this level, each team has its own style and players.

“Both teams can do very well in this competition, because they have great potential.”
