Juventus are the only side in Italy to have a second team competing in Serie C and their investment is starting to pay dividends.

The Bianconeri set up their second team, comprised of under-23 players, back in 2018, becoming the first Italian side to do so. Since renamed to Juventus Next Gen, the project started slowly and many observers were quick to point to the team’s less than exciting results in Serie C, but now the club’s decision is starting to bear fruit.

Calciomercato.com highlights how the increasing emergence of young talents in the Juventus first team is a sign of success of their second team, with players like Fabio Miretti, Matias Soule and Nicolo Fagioli all having come through the Next Gen side.

The Bianconeri’s recent success stories with the Under-23 squad might push some other Italian teams to consider setting one up. A second team helps bridge the gap between the Primavera league and Serie A and Juventus are now showing why that makes a difference.
