“The images of the penalty are clear,” Di Francesco said in his Press conference ahead of the CSKA Moscow match.
“We conceded a penalty that wasn’t there and that affected the team, but the team should have reacted anyway and we waited too long to start playing again, as we had been in control of the game.
“That happens too often, it happened against Spal too. To get better we need to improve our attitude during the match, we need to continue playing rather than stopping to protest.
“In the league there are 27 games to play, which isn’t few, and tomorrow we have to prove we’re on another path in the Champions League.
“We’ve improved in terms of our play and physically, but we’re not consistent. We need consistency, there are a lot of teams who win in the 96th minute and that shows the right mentality.
“We must believe in our ability and not stop to think about incidents that happen during a game.
“What’s changed tactically? Were were having too much trouble getting the press going and getting close to [Edin] Dzeko.
“We were dropping too deep, but we’ve worked well on these things. In Florence [Alessandro] Florenzi pushed up almost to the halfway line and was creating attacking triangles.
“The team did well to avoid the Fiorentina press, and we got more players close to Dzeko.
"We've had highs and lows since the start of the season, but we have to keep believing in what we're doing and bring important results home.
"As Dzeko said, a goal could change things for Schick and an important win could give us confidence.
"We've been close to it, like against Napoli, but I'm doing my job calmly."
Paulo Sousa declared yesterday that he’d like to take the Roma job in future…
“I don’t care, I have much more important things to think about,” Di Francesco responded.
“It’s up to you [the media] to say whether things like that are indelicate, since you’re so good at reading so many people’s minds, maybe including mine.”
