The Giallorossi were beaten in Turin by a Mario Mandzukic header on Mattia De Sciglio’s cross.

“We were too nervous and insecure in the first half, but in the second we accepted the duels and took control of the ball,” the Coach told DAZN.

“We had some good forward moves and just lacked the final ball. The difference between us and them is that Juve had shots on goal. I remain happy with the reaction that the team showed.

“I wanted to create more density in the midfield, giving Aleksandar Kolarov the chance to start moves from the back. We wanted a stronger physical impact, but we did well in some moments and less well in others.

“The positives we take from this match are the attitude and the desire to play one-against-one all over the pitch. We just didn’t finish off our chances, but keeping Juve pinned back in their own half is no mean feat. Unfortunately, we lack the nous and experience to pick the right ball.”

Patrik Schick was again utterly ineffective in attack, failing to make any real impact.

“We all expect more. It was not easy for him today, but we do expect him to have more shots on goal. In some situations he could’ve attacked the space better.”
