Roma Coach Eusebio Di Francesco insists “nothing is written or fixed” for the Scudetto, despite Juventus signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Bianconeri pulled off the €100m transfer coup earlier this summer, and with seven Scudetti in a row many are already pencilling them in as Serie A champions.

“Nothing is written or fixed, but Juventus have a winning mentality now,” Di Francesco explained to Romanian outlet Pro Sport.

“Bringing in a player like that, who has the same winning mentality, will help them, especially in European competition.

“I think their main objective is to assert themselves in Europe too.

“Our goal is to do everything we can to try and improve. It’s not easy, but it’s only right for a team, a Coach and the players to progress compared to the last season.”

Di Francesco was also asked about his connection to Roma.

“It’s an important story which was born as soon as I became a footballer. I had important offers back then, but the passion of the President [Franco Sensi] convinced me to choose Roma.

“Right from that moment I fell in love with this club, and it’s lasted ever since.”

Before re-joining the Lupi as a Coach, the Italian had an offer from Zenit St Petersburg…

“I can confirm there were some interesting discussions, I was asked if I wanted to go but I wouldn’t go as far as saying there was a concrete offer.

“When the offer came from Roma I didn’t think twice.”

The highlight of Di Francesco’s time in charge so far was indubitably the Champions League comeback against Barcelona.

“The more I think about it, the more I think that was the perfect match. There have been other important matches in my coaching career, but none like Barcelona at the Olimpico.

“Would I like to play them again? I definitely would.”
