Eusebio Di Francesco has asserted that Chelsea target Edin Dzeko will start Roma’s game against Sampdoria on Wednesday.

Dzeko had reportedly agreed terms with Chelsea, as part of a €60m double deal including Emerson Palmieri, but Di Francesco made it clear he was still counting on the striker.

“As things stand, he’ll start tomorrow, even if we have to make assessments on his mental state,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“I wanted to leave him in peace at least until today. I’ll talk to him, but for now I’m counting on him. After that, we’ll decide together.

“It’s only fair that a Roma player is able to play. We’ll evaluate everything else later on.

"I still have to talk to him about the right choice, but I think it's only right that a Roma player plays.

"As things stand all the players who have been called up are Roma players."
