Sampdoria striker Eder says he never ‘pushed’ to be allowed to join Inter.

The Nerazzurri attempted to sign the Italian international on deadline day, but were ultimately unsuccessful, and the forward has now signed a new deal until 2020.

“I’m very happy to have reached an agreement, I want to stay for many years,” Eder told reporters in a Press conference to confirm his renewal.

“It’s not about earning more for me, otherwise I’d have moved to Qatar. I’m happy here, I’m contracted until 2020, but with the transfer market you never know.

“If I stay here until 2020 I’ll be happy, we’ll see what happens.

“Inter? Even when I was at Empoli there was talk of Milan and everything, but I never went. It’s not something that weighs on me, even now I didn’t push to join Inter.

“I’ve always given priority to Sampdoria, this is a great team and I’ll always try to do my best when I go onto the pitch.

“Less space at Inter? I don’t know, I don’t feel inferior to anyone, but I’m happy to be here.”

Blucerchiati President Massimo Ferrero wants the Brazilian-born forward to emulate Udinese’s Antonio Di Natale, and Eder is flattered by the comparison.

“Being compared with Di Natale is a source of pride, I’m obsessed with scoring goals, but I think about the team first and foremost.

“The important thing is for the team to continue as we have been.”
