“The goal is worth three points, that was the most important thing today. It was also certainly good for me to finally score a goal at the Olimpico, but if we play like the second half, we’ll be able to score more goals,” the striker told Sky Sport Italia.
“We really played well after the break, with pace, technique, moving it out from the back. Lorenzo Pellegrini and Alessandro Florenzi helped changed the game when they came off the bench.”
This was also Roma’s second consecutive 1-0 victory with a clean sheet after conquering Sampdoria last week.
“First of all, this is a team that wants to win and that means not conceding at the back. We’ve conceded far too many goals this season. As I told the lads against Sampdoria, make sure we don’t concede and eventually we always score a goal, which is what we did.”
The Giallorossi temporarily climbed into fourth place, awaiting Milan–Lazio this evening.
“In a season like this, when we haven’t been great, to still be up there is something of a miracle. Now that we’re there, we have to play every game the way we did in this second half.”
