Edin Dzeko is torn between playing for Roma tonight against Verona and preparing for his Juventus medical, while Arkadiusz Milik’s dispute with Napoli also stalls everything.

The clubs are said to be in total agreement, that Milik will join Roma from Napoli on loan with obligation to buy for a total €18m plus up to €7m in bonuses and two youth players.

Dzeko will then be released for Juventus at a cost of €15m, having agreed personal terms for a two-year contract worth €7.5m per season.

Milik started his medical on Friday and that will continue today, although the contractual dispute with Napoli is stalling matters.

The Poland international wants to receive the outstanding two months of his wages for this new season and is asking the club to drop its fines over the infamous December 2019 ‘mutiny’ within the squad.

With Milik not making his move yet and no real alternatives, Roma coach Paulo Fonseca assures Dzeko will therefore play tonight in the Serie A opener with Hellas Verona.

However, Sky Sport Italia, Tuttosport and others report from Dzeko’s entourage that the Bosnian does not want to play in case injury scuppers the transfer to Juventus.

If he doesn’t start, the only real option for the Giallorossi will be to use Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a centre-forward.
