Juventus forward Paulo Dybala reportedly told Argentina teammate Angel Di Maria that he couldn’t ‘take it anymore’ after the challenge by Uruguay defender Joaquin Piquerez.

Piquerez hit the Bianconeri attacker’s left foot during the World Cup Qualifier between Uruguay and Argentina, and Dybala stayed on the ground after the challenge.

He stayed on the pitch for the remainder of the first half but TyC Sport reports the player confessed to Paris Saint-Germain winger Di Maria that he wouldn’t be able to continue.

“Fideo, I can’t take it anymore,” he told his teammate on the pitch, a sentence the cameras picked up.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni decided to bring him off during the break, hoping to have the Juventus star available for the match against Brazil on Tuesday.

Di Maria scored the only goal in the match at the Campeon del Siglo in Montevideo, as Argentina extended their unbeaten run in the qualifiers to 12 games.

The Albiceleste are second in the table, six points behind Brazil ahead of the important game between the arch-rivals next week.

  1. Sick and tired of these injuries to players when on international duty. It must drive the clubs who pay them to insanity.
