Bosnia captain Edin Dzeko has pulled out of the national squad due to the injury he suffered with Inter during the Milan derby.

The former Roma striker is the second Inter player to announce his return to Pinetina today, following Alessandro Bastoni, who left the Italy squad ahead of their trip to Northern Ireland.

Bastoni leaves Italy camp

Dzeko has posted a photo on Instagram where he claims he has done everything possible together with the Bosnia and Herzegovina medical staff to get ready for the games against Finland and Ukraine in the World Cup Qualifiers.

“Despite the great desire and efforts of the medical staff, we still failed in our joint efforts to get ready for the match against Finland,” Dzeko wrote on Instagram.

“However, I know the lads will do their best to win and that they will leave the last bit of strength on the pitch for a favourable result. I urge the fans to support the lads, like never before.

“They really need support and I’m sure it will give them more strength to get the best result on the pitch! Good luck guys. Let’s bring home the win. We can do it together!”
