Battling with Roma for the Belgian international, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Inter could get the upper hand thanks to one of their youth team players.

Ghanaian midfielder Duncan has been a sensation in Serie B with Livorno this season and took them to promotion.

The 20-year-old was due to either remain on loan at Livorno for one more year or return to base, but he could now be sold to Paolo DI Canio’s Sunderland for €8m.

That money would then be reinvested in the €15m Cagliari asking price for Nainggolan.

Other youth team players who Inter could hand over as part of the deal include Under-21 internationals Francesco Bardi, Giulio Donati and Luca Caldirola.

Meanwhile, the Corriere dello Sport maintains Milan are ready to do a straight swap with their city rivals.

Nocerino would move to the Nerazzurri in exchange for defender Mathias Silvestre. The Argentine did not convince during his year at San Siro, but Inter were forced to buy him out from Palermo due to a contract clause.

Nocerino had already been close to joining Mazzarri at Napoli in January after falling off Massimiliano Allegri’s radar.
